BBBS Raised Garden Bed Clean-up/Winter prep

Saturday, Nov 9, 9:00 am – noon, new Kiwanis Bike Project location at 5305 Mill St, Reno

Reno/Sparks matches are encouraged to work together to prepare some raised garden beds for the winter at the Kiwanis Bike Project’s new location.  The property used to be part of the UNR Cooperative Extension and there are several raised beds that remain.  Our Kiwanis partners have invited us to “adopt” some of the beds for our own BBBS community garden!  The first step is clearing and adding nutrients to the beds.  We will have some garden equipment available, but feel free to bring your own metal rakes, hoes, and spades, as well as work gloves and water bottles.  Be prepared to get dirty, as we’re hoping to get compost donated to spread!    RSVP by Nov 7

Karma Box Match Activity

Tuesday, Nov 12, 5:30 – 6:30 PM, BBBS Conference Room

You may have heard or read about the local Karma boxes throughout town as a way to make needed items accessible to homeless individuals or those going through a tough time. As a group, we would like to re-supply some of these boxes.  Each match is asked to bring necessary items like travel sized toiletries, first aid supplies, non-perishable food, warm socks and gloves.  Feel free to bring items you have collected or make a run to the Dollar Store with your Little.  We will meet in our conference room to sort our combined items into piles for each match to take with them to fill a Karma box either that evening or the next time you meet.  We’ll have maps showing where the boxes are located.  RSVP by Nov 8
