Group Match Activities
Just a Reminder
Since BBBSNN activities are the result of Agency community partnerships and/or grant funding for our matches, guests are not permitted to attend.
Get Your Art On!
Take advantage of the numerous free ARTOWN events this month throughout Reno to experience a wide range of visual and performing arts. We even have a couple planned as group match activities. See below!
Legendary Lands Art Show (BBBS Artown Event)
July 1-31st, Reception July 19, 5-7:00 pm, Cafe Capello (Former Java Jungle), 248 W First Street, #202, Reno, NV 89501
BBBS has partnered with The Holland Project and talented local artists of varying styles and mediums to produce an eclectic collection of visual art celebrating young imaginations. Littles who participated in our winter creative writing workshop were asked to envision a Legendary Land of their own creation. Their travel passports were then passed on to artists to inform and inspire their work. This exhibition will showcase art, writing, and the way in which our community can come together to encourage and defend the potential of our youth.
Stop by for a refreshment and to peruse the exhibit at the Holland Project's Satellite Gallery along the river in downtown Reno (open from 7 am to 9 pm daily). Whether your Little participated or not, ALL matches and guests are invited to attend the July 19 Gallery Opening Reception to honor our community effort! RSVP for the reception by July 15th.
Sat, July 20, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm, 550 Mallory Way, Carson City, NV 89701
Join our BBBS group to learn how to take apart donated computers and related hardware, to be used to refurbish computers for local families. Lunch will be provided, and each Little will get to take home a bag of food from their on-site food bank! You are welcome to make this a regular activity so that your Little can earn their own refurbished computer by donating 48 hours of time. RSVP by July 15.

Enjoy a special night of live theater under the stars! Sierra School of Performing Arts once again invites matches to attend the preview performance of the live stage production of Guys and Dolls, free of charge, the night before the show opens.
Hold on to your hats as we transport you back to the 1930s with this tale of gamblers, dancers and colorful characters of the New York underworld. The romance revolves around the unlikeliest of Manhattan pairings: a high-rolling gambler wooing a puritanical missionary, and a showgirl dreaming of a straight-and-narrow future with a craps game manager who is anything but. You'll be tapping your feet to the catchy music. The original Broadway production in 1950 won the Tony Award for Best Musical. This show contains mature themes and language, so is best suited for children 12+.
The doors open at 6:45 pm and the show starts at 7:30 pm. It will be approximately 2 hours long, with a short intermission. You are not obligated to stay for the entire show, but all attendees are asked to fill out an evaluation form before you leave to help with grant funding. Seatin gis first come, first served. There will be no concessions, but you are welcome to bring food and drinks into the ampitheater for a picnic before the show. No coolers or glass containers allowed. Please RSVP by August 5th, as your names must be on our BBBS list for you to be admitted.
