Free Tickets to the Big Dig

Matches will have an opportunity to operate heavy construction equipment like bulldozers, cranes, and “earthmovers”, with the help and supervision of professional operators. In addition, you can check out the team from REMSA and their helicopter, see a demonstration from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, and much more! Stay for an hour or longer, depending on your level of interest. Limited tickets are available, so RSVP ASAP!
Looking Ahead: Youth Conference

Join Together Northern Nevada (JTNN) is sponsoring a conference for high school students entitled “Building Blocks 4 A Beter U” at the Boys & Girls Club, 1090 Bresson Ave, Reno 89502. Breakout sessions will address issues relevant to teens and wellness, such as goal-setting, substance use prevention, suicide prevention, life after high school, mindfulness, yoga and much more! The keynote speaker is a Psychologist and comedian who will inspire the youth through humor. We encourage you to tell your high school Littles about this opportunity. Registration will be available at jtnn.org on May 1.

Up to 10 children between the ages of 6 and 10 are invited to participate in an outreach project as part of that week’s Rotary Youth Leadership Awakening (RYLA) program. Littles will be taught bike safety and will receive a free bike and helmet. Accompanying Bigs will be included, so you can see first-hand how this Rotary sponsored leadership program for high school juniors works. If you are available to drive your Little to Portola on a Thursday afternoon, (an approx. 45 minute drive each way) RSVP by mid-April
Ongoing: Half Day Fly Fishing Trip with Cast Hope
Dates are flexible and available throughout the year. Most trips are on the Truckee River, this side of Truckee, CA.
Are you and your Little ready for a new adventure? Bigs can nominate their Littles, ages 10-17, to receive a free half-day fly fishing experience for both of you, complete with a guide and all equipment needed! The experience is free, but a one-day fishing license will be required for each participant age 16 and older (at the cost of approximately $15/each). If you and your Little are interested, RSVP to receive the nomination form.
