Bowl for Kids' Sake Here is an easy and fun way to help us change more lives: Bowl for Kids' Sake. Top prize for most money raised: 50" Panasonic Plasma Flat Screen HDTV. Just gather 4 friends, raise funds online and join us for a free bowling party on Sun. Sept. 12 at the Grand Sierra Bowling Center with free pizza, beer, soft drinks and lots of prizes. Contact your match support specialist or Nan Olson for more information at Nan.Olson@bbbs.org.   We've Moved! Get Ready for a Fun Morning and Free Lunch for you and your Little! Big Brothers Big Sisters Annual Truckee River Clean Up Day and BBQ Saturday, Sept. 25th 9 am to 12 pm: Truckee River Clean Up Location is at Cottonwood Park on Spice Island Dr. and includes lunch afterward at Rock Park. Contact your match support specialist for more info and to RSVP. Free Big Brothers Big Sisters T shirts for all Bigs attending.

Free and Low Cost Activities

Farmers Market Another way to introduce your Little to the UNR campus: UNR's Green Market Day is Sept. 8th from 10 am to 2 pm in front of the Joe Crowley Student Union. For more info contact Jeanette Smith at jnsmith@unr.edu. Free Movies at UNR Another way to introduce your Little to college life! UNR Fall Movie Series every Thursday night. The next movie is The Karate Kid, Sept. 9^th starting at 9 pm. Weather permitting, the movies will be shown on the lawn in front of the Joe Crowley Student Union at UNR. If it is too cold, the movies will be moved to the third floor theater at the JCSU. Click here for a complete list of showings. Bookstore Grand Opening Grassroots Books is inviting all Bigs and Littles to their Kids Room Grand Opening Saturday, Sept. 11^th from 3 to 5 pm. There will be free food, books and puppet show entertainment. If you or your Little would like to participate in making a puppet, bring your own gently used socks. Our community based Big Sister of the Year, Beth Wells, will be participating in the ribbon cutting. Grassroots Books: 660 E. Grove St., Reno, NV 89502 Hiking Take your Little on a hike around Reno. The courses are 1-5 miles so pick a trail, pack a lunch and spend the day in the great outdoors. Click here for trail maps and information.

Save the date for the Sparks Fire Department's 21st Annual Pancake Breakfast and Open House 

• Where: Sparks Fire Department Headquarters Station: 1605 Victorian Ave, Sparks, NV 89431
• When: Saturday, Sept. 25th from 8 am to 12 pm.
• Cost: $5 for adults, $2 for children under 12 years old.

Prescription Drug Round Up When: Saturday, Sept. 25^th 9 am to 1 pm Drop off locations: Save Mart, Walgreens and Scolari’s: on Disc. Dr., So. Virginia St. and Lemmon Valley Rd. Acceptable Items: Unused/Expired prescription drugs in original containers (black out patient’s name on bottle), OTC pills, liquids and pet medications.

Let your Little know… September is National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month, so explain to your Little how alcohol is not just a drink, it’s a drug and can be addicting.

Mentoring Tip

Get Involved Get to know your Little’s school, teacher’s name, school web site and plan on attending an orientation or back to school night. Infinite Campus is the new Washoe County School District way to see how your Little is doing in school. Click here to find out more.
