Bruka Children’s Theatre Presents “Many Moons”

A funny and endearing tale about  a princess who wants the moon and how she gets it.  The touring production brings the story to life in a most amusing way.

Free Family & Drug/Alcohol Prevention Classes

Does your Little’s family need better communication, family management, help resolving family conflict, family bonding/cohesion, family empowerment, drug abuse prevention for children, refusal skills (how to say NO), and/or help in handling peer pressure?

If so, please pass this info on to them or ask your match support specialist to talk to the family for you.  “Creating Lasting Family Connections”, a Comprehensive 15-session Family Enrichment and Alcohol And Drug Abuse Prevention Program. Classes will be held every Monday and Wednesday beginning April 7th from 6 to 8pm at Greater Light Christian Center, 2540 Sutro Street, Suite 4. Dinner will be served at 6pm.

If the family attends all 15 classes they will receive a $40 gift card to Wal-Mart or Burlington, and youth will get a chance to win a Play station 2 or IPod Nano as well! There are only a limited number of spaces available. Please have them call Gwen Taylor at 786-5886 ASAP to reserve their space today.


Free Self-Defense Classes Women & Girls 15+ Starts May 3rd

This is a FREE Women’s safety workshop to help teach techniques that will keep you safe.  Includes Awareness, prevention tips and empowerment.  Sponsored by Evolution Martial Arts Academy.

Nevada Museum of Art-May 25

”Children’s Day Origami” is the planned activity.  Spend the afternoon experiencing hands-on art projects and docent-led gallery activities for the entire family.

"Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West!

June 19-28, 2008      

Bigs and their Littles can volunteer to work at the Rodeo, June 19-28, from 5 to 8 pm (4-6 adults per day).  They will give each match or volunteer a voucher to go to the Rodeo for free on a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday.  The volunteers can have a “behind the scenes tour if they arrive at 4 pm.  Sign up by calling Trish at 352-3202 x 114, or you can respond to this email.

Mentoring Tip and Tobacco Facts

MENTORING TIP  
In our last Buzz, we discussed one of the three main factors which promote resiliency in youth – Caring Relationships.  Another factor leading to resiliency are High Expectation Messages given to the youth on a regular basis.  These messages should communicate not only guidance, structure and challenge but, more importantly, convey a belief in the youth’s innate resilience and look for strengths and assets as opposed to problems and deficits.
