ASSET: Positive Family Communication about Substance Abuse
Talking to KidsAccording to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, substance abuse in children and teens is on the decline. This is great news -- but one of the major factors in this decrease is adults being able to more openly discuss substance abuse and addiction with children. Here are tips for talking with your Little about substance abuse.
  • Why do you think kids and teens use drugs or alcohol? Is it a problem?
  • What do you think about kids and teens using drugs or alcohol?
  • Have you been in situations where drugs or alcohol were being used?
  • Do you have rules for yourself when it comes to drugs and alcohol?
  • How do you say no?
