ASSET: Caring School Climate
Good relationships with teachers and peers provide a caring, encouraging environment, but sometimes kids don't feel supported or safe at school. Has your Little ever spoken to you about a bullying problem, either directed at them or another student? What did you/would you do? Here are some questions to help your Little talk about the climate at school.
  • Do you think teachers and kids at your school care about others?
  • What have you seen that makes you think so (or not)?
  • Who at school could you tell about either being bullied yourself or witnessing another child being bullied?
If your Little tells you they have been bullied, or have witnessed bullying, be sure to contact the school, as they have processes in place to help both the child being bullied and the one doing the bullying.

Attend our Big Round Table on Bullying
Thursday, Feb 18, 5:30 – 7:00 p.m., in the multi-purpose room of the Boys and Girls Club, 1300 Foster Dr.

This discussion is open to Community Based Bigs, Site Based Bigs, and parents of Littles. A school psychologist and the director of the Child Assault Prevention Project will share information, skills and role plays that Bigs can practice with their Littles to combat bullying.
