ASSET 38: Self-esteem; Child likes and is proud to be the person he or she is

Bigs can have an impact on how a child views themself by giving them opportunities to build their competence in different areas.Challenging them to try new things, discovering their talents, and giving them choices about which activities you do together are all ways to make them feel capable.Be sure to compliment them on their effort and attitude, not just the end result. Your special vantage point as a trusted adult from outside of their biological family, may make your praise more highly valued.Just be sure to be specific and honest in your compliments.
