“My Little Brother brings light into my life. He is fun to hang out with.”
Ways to Help
- Volunteer Recruitment - Recruit others who would make good
Big Brothers or Big Sisters. Remember, the person doesn't need
to be Magic Johnson or Mother Teresa; he or she just needs to like
kids, be reliable and want to create Big Magic in the life of child.
Tell your friends, neighbors, and co-workers about becoming a "Big" or
inviting us to do a presentation at their clubs, churches, or businesses.
In particular, we need more men to become Big Brothers.
- Bowl for Kids' Sake –This is a fun and easy bowl-a-thon where you form a team of 5 people, collect donations and bowl one to two free games at the Grand Sierra Resort Bowling Center. The day is a big party with refreshments and lots of prizes. This annual fundraising event helps support the Big Brothers Big Sisters day to day operations.Visit Bowl for Kids' Sake
- Designer Showcase Home – Gala guests are invited to take a closer look at one of Reno’s finest homes. This professionally designed home provides an exclusive look at current home-style trends and design. This year’s home is Hollyhock House, a newly renovated American Colonial home suffused with French flavor and flair. Grand columns, sparkling chandeliers and original artwork complement rich colors, texture and textiles throughout this beautifully designed home.
The home will be open exclusively to Gala attendees. One hundred percent of the funds raised go to help pair at-risk children in
our community with mentors. Visit Designer Showcase Home
- Worthy Wheels – Invest in a child's future by donating your used vehicle—cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, and planes—to Big Brothers Big Sisters. Your donation is tax-deductible and a way to help more children.
- Individual Donations – Your donation of cash, securities,
real estate or insurance is eagerly accepted and prudently invested
in building a strong Big Brothers Big Sisters for our community.

- Bequests – Plan ahead and include Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada in your will or estate plan. Consultation with your accountant or financial planner is the first step. Visit Giving
- Serving on the Board or a Committee – We are continuously looking for people with vision, contacts and the ability to raise funds. How do we get so much done with such a small staff? It is through the combined efforts of many volunteers who serve on the board and/or a committee to plan and carry out many of our activities.
